Soda the boxer dog delivers wine to help customers maintain social distancing
Meet Soda, the dog who’s delivering wine to ensure social distancing
Now he’s bringing wine to customers to allow them to stick to social distancing rules and stop the spread of coronavirus.
It’s helping the winery stay afloat, but also brightening up lots of people’s days.
Staff put bottles of wine in a jacket that he wears, take him out to meet the customer and then he walks forward to them in the car park, letting them take the wine and give him a quick cuddle.
They’ve been publicising the service on social media and Soda has been a real hit.
Samantha Hawkins, a regular customer who stopped by to pick up her order: ‘I saw Soda on Facebook, and I just had to. I love wines! I love dogs. You put the two together, so I had to make the drive out for it.’
Lori Yata, one of the co-owners of the all-woman winery, said Soda’s deliveries have helped their business in these hard times.
‘We are the only female-run, totally run winery in Maryland. Then again I guess you can’t count Soda, cause he’s not a female. But, he’s helping out as well,’ she said.
Some animals have recently tested positive, including a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York City, becoming the first known case of a human infecting an animal and making it sick.
There have been no reports of pets becoming sick with COVID-19 in the United States and there is no evidence that pets can spread the virus to people.
After making his deliveries, Soda is rewarded with some loving petting and his favorite treats.
